Interface cable (used to connect the module to the Topaz Development Kit)
Mounting Kit (screws and spacers in a small plastic bag)
The 4.3" LCD module uses a 480x272 panel which includes a touch-screen. The Topaz LCD modules includes an ID chip (EEPROM conected via I2C), so the Operating System knows which display driver to use.
Mounting Options
There are two mounting options for the display:
Side-by-side
This is best if you need to attach things to the Topaz expansion headers
2. Mounted
Mount the LCD board to theTopaz Dev Kit using the supplied screws and spacers.
Connecting the LCD to the TDK
For both options, you need to connect the LCD board and the dev kit together. Follow these steps:
On the bottom of the Topaz Dev Kit you will find the LCD connector. Open this and place the cable with the black side facing up.
Insert the cable into the connector.
Close the connector.
Place the LCD face-down and line up the cable and connector J1
Insert the cable into the connector
Close the connector
Turn both boards cover and you are ready to power up and test the connection.
The touch-screen calibration is usually close enough to enable you to operate a new board straight away.
If it is not accurate, recalibrate in Windows CE by selecting Start->Settings->Control Panel. Double-tap the Stylus icon and select the calibration tab. Press the Recalibrate button and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you need the side-by-side configuration, then there is nothing more to do!
Mounting the TDK and 4.3" LCD
The LCD kit box includes a small bag with 4 screws, 4 large spacers and 4 small spacers.
Follow these steps to mount the LCD board on the Development Kit:
Turn the LCD and development kit over and place the small spacer over the mounting holes.
Flip the Topaz board over and position it above the LCD board. Insert a screw into a large spacer and insert this into one of the mounting holes.
Add the remaining screws and spacers to complete the mounting. Turn the board over and power on to verify everything is running OK.
