Quartz Module Components

This section provides an overview of the Quartz CPU Module and its capabilities.

Quartz is available with two different interfaces:

  1. 2 x 100-pin high-density connectors,
  2. Surface-mount LGA

Click the block diagram below for a larger image.

ComponentDescription
Freescale Vybrid
System-on-Chip
Quartz supports VF6xx Vybrid parts from Freescale Semiconductor.
DDR3 RAMRAM for the module is provided by on-board SRAM (up to 1.5MBytes depending on the Vyrbid variant) and DDR3 memory. Quartz is fitted with 256MBytes DDR3 as standard.
NAND FlashStorage for programs and data is provided by on-board NAND flash.
NetworkingVybrid includes 2 Ethernet MAC as part of the chip. The CN version of Quartz includes 2 Micrel KSZ8051 PHYs on-board, and the LGA version includes a single PHY. The MAC signals are available on the LGA interface to add another PHY to your base-board design if required.
Power SupplyQuartz is powered by a single 3.3V supply. All other power rails for the Vybrid SoC and DDR3 are included on the module.
Connection

The CN module uses 2 x HIROSE 100-pin connectors.

The LGA module requires no connector on the base-board.

The mechanical details section page has more information including part numbers and recommended PCB footprint for each module type.

All Vybrid signals are available on the connectors, including signals that are used on the module.
