This page include mechanical information for both the CN and LGA versions of Quartz.
Quartz CN Mechanical Details
Footprint
The following diagram (click for larger view) show the top view of the Quartz-CN module. Â
Quartz includes a single mounting hole. Â This is a 2.7mm non-plated hole. Â Use plastic screws or washers and ensure the screw head has a maximum size of 5mm.
Connectors
The Quartz-CN module uses 2 x HIROSE FX11 connectors as the interface between the module and base-board.
The specific part numbers are:
- Module connectors:Â FX11A-100S-SV
- Base-board connectors:Â FX11A-100P-SV0.5
The HIROSE FX11 datasheet is here:Â http://www.hirose-connectors.com/connectors/H204Agreement.aspx?sn=FX11&pdff=en_FX11_20130128.pdf
Profile
PCB Footprint
The diagram below shows the recommended footprint for the HIROSE FX11 connector used on the base-board. Â The dimensions are in mm.
The cross-hatched area inside the SMT land may come into contact with the connector contacts
and thus care should be taken that the pattern does not extend beyond the SMT land width.
A | B | C | D | E |
---|---|---|---|---|
24.5 | 29.6 | 25.0 | 26.4 | 32.5 |
When creating a PCB footprint, ensure:
- The location post holes are the correct size - one hole is 1.0 mm and the other is 0.9 mm in diameter.
- The location post holes are non-plated
- The distance between the connectors is exactly as specified.
Failure to do the above may result in the connectors not being located correctly relative to each other. This will cause stress on the connector and solder joints will break or become unreliable.

Footprint
The diagram below shows the footprint for the LGA module. Â Click the image for a larger view.
PCB Footprint
The PCB footprint should match the one above. Â Use 0.9mm circles for the pads when creating the solder paste-mask.
