This section provides an overview of the Opal-6 SoM and its capabilities.

Component
Description
Freescale i.MX6Opal-6 supports six variant of the i.MX6 processor: Solo, DualLite, Dual, DualPlus, Quad and QuadPlus.
Connection

2 x HIROSE 168-pin connectors provide the interface to all signals on the Opal-6 module.

Almost all i.MX6 signals are available on this interface.

DDR3 RAM

Opal-6 supports 512MBytes - 4 GBytes of DDR3 RAM.

1GByte (64-bit bus) is fitted as standard.

Storage

Opal-6 includes eMMC for OS, application and data storage.

4GByte parts are fitted as standard.

NetworkingOpal-6 includes a Gigabit Ethernet PHY.
Power Management

Opal-6 is powered by a single 5V supply.

The on-board DA9063 Power Management IC (PMIC) and other auxiliary devices provide all the necessary supplies required by the i.MX6, memory and Ethernet components.
